Since being founded in 2011 by CEO Tom Link, SpatialKey has been dedicated to expanding the potential of its clients—and of each SpatialKey employee—through innovative products and an authentic corporate culture.

Just as we work collaboratively with our clients to enhance the value of our products, we also continuously seek opportunities to make SpatialKey an even more rewarding place to work. That’s why we enlisted the services of Choose People, a company that certifies employers who foster a culture where employees truly feel good about coming to work.

When Choose People surveyed our employees to gain a deeper understanding of how they experience our culture, the results were wonderfully positive: SpatialKey ranked as the highest scoring company to date. “This is the most relaxed, high-functioning team I’ve ever worked with,” said Kris Boesch, Founder of Choose People.

We deliberately built our cultural foundation on three key needs that motivate people to be at their best: autonomy, mastery, and purpose.

“At SpatialKey, we understand that each of us is happiest and most effective when we have a say over how our work gets done, when we have an opportunity to excel at our chosen field, and when we have a clear understanding and vision of why we do what we do,” explains Link. “It’s rewarding for me to watch team members grow personally and professionally in this environment we’ve created while delivering superb products to an enthusiastic—and growing—client base.”

What’s more, our first company value is standing for one another’s success. That means we work to maintain a healthy, productive environment filled with ambition, innovation, and mutual respect. “We’re growing responsibly and deliberately. Every decision about who to hire, what to build, and how to grow is made with a deep concern for how to build a strong cohesive team and a healthy culture over the long term,” says Technical Director of Product Doug McCune.

Playing well with others is another important company value. “SpatialKey is very different from the larger companies I’ve worked for,” says Steven Diomampo, Development Manager. “It’s a place where anyone can voice an idea, concern, or ridiculous joke and be heard and accepted. That kind of feeling inspires me to do my best work and be my best self.”

Client Services Director Rick Vissering agrees, adding that another company value—come from a place of courage—inspires everyone to approach challenges with fresh eyes. “Working on a team like this is unlike anything I’ve experienced in my career—everyone has an equal seat at the table, working with creative freedom to the benefit of satisfied clients and unrivaled products.”

And our last company value—keep it smart and simple—means we have a fairly flat organization. And that lack of corporate hierarchy often leads to a lot of on-the-job camaraderie.

“I’ve never worked with a group of people quite like the SpatialKey team. I laugh (often out loud) at work multiple times a day. Even in the toughest situations, we always find a way to pull together and pitch in. Often, we can look back at the sticky situation as a learning experience and see challenges as catalysts for growth. Even in our remote work environment, we can always pop in to chat and laugh, something I truly value and admire about our culture,” says Rebecca Morris, Director, Product Management.

Ranking at the top of the Choose People Employee Satisfaction Ratings is a position we relish, and one we will continue to aspire to as our company grows. We’re committed to maintaining and continuously improving our workplace so we can all enjoy working here in the future as much as we do today.
