The Butte wildfire, blazing in California, is shaping up to be one of the worst this season. With extreme drought conditions and many standard water sources unavailable, firefighters are facing more challenges than ever in containing its spread. Using our Wildfire app, featuring wildfire perimeter data from GeoMAC and household data from the U.S. Census Bureau, we have identified potential properties affected within the perimeter, as well as within a one mile radius of the fire’s border, to visualize and quantify the potential impact.
